Celebrations

Why oh why do Celebrations no longer contain the Galaxy Truffle? Arguably one of the best out of the lot and it's just cut from the box... Eternal Sadness... It's not like you can pick up a Bar of Galaxy Truffle either. It doesn't exist..

Also why do the maltesers tastes so much better than normal maltasers.... I'd buy an entire box of the celebrations one's over the standard ones anyday!.

Sort it out Mars....

Rap!

Why do they take a perfectly good rock song, with a catchy chorus and mice melody then go "you know what would complete this song? Some guy talking over the top of it about something completely breaking the song, then we can launch back into the final chorus and outro...."

Whatever happened to just adding in ahhhhhhhh (secretly we ran out words but have a harmony) I'd even settle for a "yeah yeah yeah"
But not we will just get some random dude to rap all over

WHY?

Christmas Cards!

Honestly
Why do we really bother with Christmas cards!?
Between paying mad prices for things we just throw out after the big day (think of the trees!).

Writing them out is just impossible, remembering names of people you barely know and always trying to guess an acquaintances spouses name...

I've just started and already I've lost one to just bad writing, one injured due to having a licked envelope with no card in it (open letter surgery just saved it with minor scar tissue), another down due to smudge (whatever substance cards are made from it's like a whiteboard, built to easily rub off. but in reality it never rubs off it just smudges allover).

My next challenge is a card from a neighbour (No 24) I have to decipher the handwriting and just hope that my bad writing covers up the fact I just couldn't make out your name in the first place.

Honestly I just go into some kind of writing trance. I once remember sending a card saying "merry christmas from christmas" I'd wrote so many I just replaced my own name with christmas spirit...

I also lack the creativity to write anything meaningful in any card. beyond Merry christmas and a happy new year or any conceivable variant of that phrase. Still I'd love to open a card with MERRY JESUS BIRTHDAY have a nice skyblue cat with jam!

Best keep writing attention is fading.... and I've got card glitter allover my table!

Apocalypse

2012 worst apocalypse ever, about the only thing dead is a leaf off my plant!

2013 calendars

Honestly it's the end of the world. Why even bother making a calendar never mind one so niche as goats in trees....
I hope the world does end!

Belkin Ipad Snap Shield Cover

So I bought a lovely red Apple smart cover for my iPad. Only to fall victim to the trap of leaving the lovely metal backside of my Ipad open to abuse from the elements.
As I already had a smart cover (which I found really useful) I didn't want to get a full blown front and back cover.
I scoured the Internet and found a few which looked good, I had no idea if they were any good based on a few images etc...
I stumbled onto the Belkin snap on Shield cover whilst out shopping one day. It comes in a few different shades and felt pretty nice to the touch, walked away with it and it's been on the back of my Ipad for about 4 months now.

Fitting and use

It fitted no problems, push it on and make sure it snaps on at each corner simples!.
I opted for the smokey translucent grey one.
Nice to hold and looks pretty cool. Doesn't hinder the smart cover at all. Also maintains the access points for the dock, camera, speaker and switched on the side.
It also fits very tightly so it doesn't increase the size of the Ipad much at all, something a lot of other covers didn't do.

Durability

I've had this so far on my Ipad about 4 months. I'm normally very careful with it so it's more to prevent scrapes and scratches as opposed to any accidental drops off a cliff.
It's held up fairly well some damage pictures below....

As you can see the edges have shattered and chunks have sheared off. Surprisingly this hasn't impacted the fit of the cover. It's never separated at all so far ( I'm not sure if I can even pull it apart!). Although the damage looks bad that the cover held up and prevented any damage to my iPad, from some fairly high drops. The edges seem to be like buttered toast the Ipad will always impact something corner edge first. It's sustained these impacts from dropping off a table on to a hard pavement and from being bundled into a rucksack and not being treat kindly.

Summary

In summary I'd recommend this cover to anyone with an iPad, it's definitely saved mine from some "little accidents", my only fault with it is it seems too brittle. maybe a softer rubber cover would still be intact?.
For now it's done a fine job and will keep on doing it till I need a replacement!

If anyone actually follows this blog!
I've relocated to sunny Ravenholm (yeah I went there...despite the warnings)

So now instead of the insane anything upwards of one and a half hour commute I'm down to a lofty seven minute walk...how close is too close?

Freeing up time to create some type of live, and maybe make a blog on the internet!

So now I have a house with a cat and stuff. So yeah thats super exciting!

Oh well!

Not been murdered yet!

Lets see how this all goes...

Netflix

Totally watching the Mothman Prophecy on the Netflix 360 app. Works smooth as anying even on this slow internet connection, it's not stopped to buffer once. I'm pretty impressed... Cool app but needs more films available. I'm sure this will come in time.

It's really strange to see this on my xbox, I never thought that it would go from such a dedicated gaming device to this multimedia device we have now. I never thought I would use this for anything other than gaming but I do. With the newest dashboard update it feels like the games are taking a back seat, with apps and social integration on the main dashboard screen. Interesting time for games consoles, they're not just conoles anymore.
In my view it's long overdue, all this technology has been around for ages, but now it's only just coming together, allowing devices to talk to eachother. Exciting stuff for the next generation of consoles... Farmville on the Xbox next....

Borders

Feeders new song borders is awesome! Back in action they are! Looking forward to the new album out in March. Check it out...

Netflix

Totally trying netflix for the UK, I'll take the xbox and iPad apps thanks
Should be fun
One month free trial so.nothing to lose

Edit

The app on the Ipad and on the Xbox work really well, but the selection doesn't seem that great, Lovefilm probably has a wider range of stuff to watch (games too).
Still all works really well, can't complain for a free trial and 5.99 a month isn't too bad at all.
Hopefully they will add more films soon!.
Still plenty to watch for now!

Only downside is everyone invites you to play Halo when you want to sit and watch a film!

Outside

It's probably a good job I don't have the time to get out and about much, every trip out into the big wide world seems to end in some strange situation.
The other day me and a friend casually strolled into the nearest Burger King, after waiting inline then trying our hardest not to order a BigMac and Quarter pounder with cheese. We ventured forth to find a table.
Naturally gravitating to the quiet end of a busy restaurant.

Me
"The chairs here look pretty small..."

Him
"yeah I think we're in the kids section"
(FFFUUUUUU)

Me
"Sweet we'll be like giants!"

Him
"Yeah Giant Pricks..."

Ok fair point!

A moment fraught with terror, the famous quote "It's a trap!" springs to mind!. We quickly retreat back into the grown up section to find a more appropriately sized seat. A task made increasingly awkward by the fact we have to back track through the heart of the restaurant and pass everyone waiting in the queue, all along having that awkward moment of "look at those tools headed to the kids section and now are running away".

Such a basic mistake but one that seemingly causes time to stand still and everyone to glare. Do other people have these? Or are some people just cursed with this awkwardness?

Our next stop was to a pet shop to get a basking light for the lizards, a relatively swift and smooth transaction surely... retrieving the appropriate item from the shelf and proceeding to the check out to exchange cash for goods then get out!.
but no, having selected the only item which is the most awkward item for the poor cashier girl to retrieve from behind the counter.

Another awkward moment as she furiously struggles to retrieve the light, meanwhile we stand there holding up the queue for what seems like an eternity, whilst not looking back at the growing line and poor woman struggling with the largest and heaviest bag of dog food...

I'm sure there's a good reason for doing all shopping on the internet.
It did prompt us to have a good conversation into how some people (like us) are cursed with awkward situations, yet some have such cool and grace to just brush it off.
In the end everything worked out for the best, food was consumed and items were purchased.

Till next time!

New years

Wow not even a week into the new year and in this one small town, there's been a shooting killing four people and my friends neighbour was found dead. Linky

Doesn't seem like a very good start to the new year. It's really strange that you hear this sort of thing on the news but think so little of it as it's never so close to home, but this time it's right on my doorstep.
Seems so tragic so early into the new year and the fact these events just seem to be getting more and more widespread, I don't think it paints a good picture for the rest of this year. Just goes to show you can never be too sure who you live next too.

My deepest sympathy to all those involved, I'm sure things will get better.

Happy new year and all that... I think!
