It's
probably a good job I don't have the time to get out and about much, every trip
out into the big wide world seems to end in some strange situation.
The other
day me and a friend casually strolled into the nearest Burger King, after
waiting inline then trying our hardest not to order a BigMac and Quarter
pounder with cheese. We ventured forth to find a table.
Naturally
gravitating to the quiet end of a busy restaurant.
Me
"The
chairs here look pretty small..."
Him
"yeah
I think we're in the kids section"
Me
"Sweet
we'll be like giants!"
Him
"Yeah
Giant Pricks..."
Ok fair
point!
A moment
fraught with terror, the famous quote "It's a trap!" springs to mind!.
We quickly retreat back into the grown up section to find a more appropriately
sized seat. A task made increasingly awkward by the fact we have to back track
through the heart of the restaurant and pass everyone waiting in the queue, all
along having that awkward moment of "look at those tools headed to the
kids section and now are running away".
Such a
basic mistake but one that seemingly causes time to stand still and everyone to
glare. Do other people have these? Or are some people just cursed with this
awkwardness?
Our next
stop was to a pet shop to get a basking light for the lizards, a relatively
swift and smooth transaction surely... retrieving the appropriate item from the
shelf and proceeding to the check out to exchange cash for goods then get out!.
but no,
having selected the only item which is the most awkward item for the poor cashier
girl to retrieve from behind the counter.
Another
awkward moment as she furiously struggles to retrieve the light, meanwhile we
stand there holding up the queue for what seems like an eternity, whilst not
looking back at the growing line and poor woman struggling with the largest and
heaviest bag of dog food...
I'm sure
there's a good reason for doing all shopping on the internet.
It did
prompt us to have a good conversation into how some people (like us) are cursed
with awkward situations, yet some have such cool and grace to just brush it
off.
In the
end everything worked out for the best, food was consumed and items were purchased.
Till next time!
